UK Visit Visa
A UK standard visitor visa allows people from outside the UK to visit for tourism, family visits, business meetings, medical treatment, and a range of other permitted purposes. Most visitors from countries that require a visa can apply for a standard visitor visa, which can be granted for up to six months at a time, or for longer-term multiple-entry visits in some cases.

What a Visit Visa Allows
- Tourism and leisure
- Visiting family or friends
- Attending business meetings, conferences, or events
- Medical treatment (with additional documentation)
- Short-term study of up to 30 days
A visit visa does not permit the holder to live in the UK, take up employment, or access public funds.
Key Requirements
- Genuine visitor: The applicant must intend to visit for a permitted purpose and leave at the end of the visit
- Financial means: The applicant must be able to maintain and accommodate themselves without recourse to public funds
- Strong ties to home country: Evidence of employment, family responsibilities, or property that confirms the applicant will return
- No intention to work: The applicant must not intend to work or settle in the UK
Common Reasons for Refusal
- Doubts about the genuineness of the visit or the stated purpose
- Doubts about the applicant’s intention to leave at the end of the visit
- Insufficient financial evidence
- Weak ties to the home country
- Previous immigration history issues

Fees
Visit visa application assistance is available from £150. A fixed fee is agreed in writing before any work begins. The Home Office application fee is payable separately and directly to the Home Office. See our full fee scale.
